In this exhibition, Sébastien Gaudette offers a dialogue between drawing and the written word. Using writing as a theme, he has, through the use of brush strokes, trompe-l’œil, poetry and experimental drawings, created a narrative for each of his artworks. Using paper as a ‘stage’ (in a theatrical sense) he uses a mixture of drawing and text on the torn, creased and smudged sheets, as if they are pages ripped out of a poetry book.

In a tautological process, his artwork echoes what was originally written on a page but its form is radically changed through Gaudette’s new narratives, depicted through the text and  images on his ‘sculptural’ paper.
