Creating from scratch

Multidisciplinary artist Josette Villeneuve likes to incorporate recycled materials such as clothing labels and colourful plastic bricks into her work, making viewers reflect on the impact of globalization on our everyday lives. These large, thought-provoking pieces – a world of flags, global maps and other objects repurposed by the artist – dominate the space at the Yvonne L. Bombardier Cultural Centre. Put together as pixellated images, they clearly reflect the artist’s bold analysis of today’s society, challenging the viewer to think more deeply about the current state of the environment, humanity, culture and politics.
