Jérémie St-Pierre holds a master’s degree in visual and media arts from the University of Quebec in Montreal – UQAM (2018). His work has been featured in various exhibitions since 2006, notably at the Galerie de l’UQAM, at Usine C and at Caravansérail. He has created his recent paintings like a collagist, mixing images from diverse sources (media, personal collections, found images and so on) which he then reproduces on canvas. His compositions evoke a world bedeviled by anarchy, where the real and the imaginary clash with one another, causing us to reflect on the current state of the planet….
This exhibition is a retrospective of St-Pierre’s work between 2017 and 2022. The two bodies of work presented here are Chronique d’une virtualité anonyme (2018) and L’horizon des événements (2020). The former is themed around the rapid trajectory of virtual reality technologies, while the latter looks at the problems related to scientific disasters, climate change, the extinction of species and so on. The artist lives and works in Val-Jolie in the Eastern Townships.
