Artist and scientist Étienne Saint-Amant has one major goal – to introduce the general public to a way of using a dense, complex mathematical system to create visual art that is both expressive and full of life.

Combining avant-garde scientific principles and classical composition, the artist creates his images by layering a succession of drawings, one on top of the other. He combines the formulas of fractal geometry with mathematical transformations and color, stage by stage, step by step, to come up with a work of art. It’s a unique, innovative approach that transforms mathematics into materials and pigments.
