A native of France, artist Jean-Michel Correia settled in the Eastern Townships several years ago. His academic background in architecture and fine arts led him to explore the plastic arts, a discipline he has practised for 35 years. His colorful, minimalist works have been exhibited mainly in New York and Miami. The co-owner of the Galerie du Théâtre in Magog, which specializes in contemporary art, Jean-Michel Correia has also taught in the design department of the Faculty of Planning at the Université de Montréal, as well as the graduate program for current artistic practises at Université de Sherbrooke. He is also an art curator, critic and PhD student at UQAM, focusing on the study and practise of art.
