Passionate about drawing and nature from a young age, D’Angelo regards nature as an unlimited source of inspiration. The peaceful meadows and abandoned fields near his home nourish his imagination. His fascination with animals shows in the exacting detail that he brings to his scenes, most of which are painted in oils.
His work depicts animals that are alive with movement and color, in the heart of their own environment. The landscapes that the artist sees around him, often triggers the creative spark. Even although D’Angelo’s artwork is as realistic as a photograph, it is, in fact, the result of his close observation of nature and whatever happens to inspire the artist at any given moment. D’Angelo looks very closely at an animal’s behaviour and mulls over the key elements of his subject. He then makes a series of sketches to establish a clear direction for the scene he wants to create, before he even starts to paint in his studio.
