Sébastien Pesot, a multidisciplinary artist, musician and curator, has exhibited his work both in Quebec and around the world, at venues such as the Musée d’art contemporain (Baie-Saint-Paul), Musée des beaux-arts (Sherbrooke) and The Invisible Dog Art Center (New York City).
In 2000, Pesot graduated with a master’s degree in visual and media arts from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and in 2014, he co-founded SPUNKT ART NOW, an artists’ collective whose aim was to take the punk movement in a new, contemporary direction. In 2016, their efforts came together in the form of an art project that will travel around the United States and Europe. A book entitled POST-PUNK ART NOW has already been published.
Pesot himself has had a strong influence on punk and his Sticky Study exhibition is an anthology of artworks and conceptual art, in which he reinterprets the aesthetic of this counterculture through photographs, videos, installations and performance art. By treating his subjects in a formal manner and placing objects in a context that is not the norm, the artist elevates them, giving them pride of place in his work.
