Activity connected to the Paul Béliveau exhibition

Paul Béliveau is a prolific postmodern painter. His hyperrealistic, reinvented book covers are lined up and presented in diverse chromatic shades, symbolizing the sharing of knowledge. As students explore the artist’s monumental works, they discover his love for books. In fact, this original activity combines art and reading. With books as a backdrop, the student-artists create their own unique book cover for a book they have chosen from the Library located above the Cultural Centre.

  • Create a book cover for a chosen book using gouache and pastels
  • Learn the secrets of the universe by listening to a story

Activity connected to the Josette Villeneuve and Sophie Roy exhibition

This winter, the Yvonne L. Bombardier Cultural Centre will feature two artists. Sophie Roy revisits Aboriginal portraits from the 19th century, and Josette Villeneuve sews together epic amounts of clothing labels to make patchwork maps and flags of the world. In this colourful context, students explore the concept of territoriality and the symbolism of flags, as they create flags for their imaginary countries.

  • Create your own mosaic flag out of paper and cardboard
  • Discover the symbols and relationships between a territory and its flag
  • Listen to an Aboriginal legend
