In 2013, François Haguier presented his first exhibition at the Galerie Courtemanche in Magog. Traces was a retrospective of three years’ work during which the artist devoted himself to the study of pictorial images. A self-taught intuitive artist, François Haguier is a graphic designer by profession – a vocation that has influenced his approach. He plays with different shapes and his work has an illustrative, light-hearted quality, where buildings and structures are sometimes rendered in a simplified fashion. The effect of the light and the lacquer employed by Haguier contribute towards the impression of movement and energy which are so evident in his work. An eclectic mix, his art represents contemporary life imbued with aestheticism – an combination that creates a veritable Shock wave….
